MULTI-PURPOSE HANDLING EQUIPMENT

The technology for Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) for Remote Operated Vehicles (or Unmanned Underwater Vehicles) is challenged with new demands of accessibility. In addition the end user requires high mobility and a compact design. Their reasons are evident. In a hostile situation the combat vessels carrying the equipment will soon have a new assignment and a different type of mission. The LARS will be removed to make room for another mission module and the equipment exchange must be done in a few hours. Lidan has built integrated LARS and umbilical winch based on cranes or A-frames as well as a stowing cradle. The equipment can be stowed and operated form ISO container size modules.

The multi purpose combat ship will have to be charged with a wide range of equipment which makes the low weight and compact design essential. Using one set of equipment for multiple tasks is a way to save both weight and size. Lidan supplies cranes capable of loading and stowing of Sea-to-Sea missiles and rib boats as well as the launch and recovery operation of Remote Operated Vehicles and bringing man-over-board or floating objects onboard in tough sea conditions.

A multi purpose vessel requires extensive training of ship personnel. A clean and easy Man-to-Machine interface and full availability in the monitoring of the equipment during operation is a must. An easy of access in maintenance and modular design makes way for high accessibility even under extreme conditions.

Lidan has developed technology for designing compact solutions with a chock absorbing architecture and is reducing weight to a minimum while still meeting the MIL-STD 901D.
